***SAVE BOURNEMOUTH FROM TOWN CENTRE TRAVELLER SITE***
Bournemouth Borough Council has announced a proposal for a Traveller site on the junction of Suffolk Rd/Cambridge Rd - right in the middle of Bournemouth Town Centre.
This directly conflicts with the Council's town centre master vision which includes the redevelopment of the Triangle area, adjacent to the proposed site - as well as the Council’s desire to make Bournemouth a tourist hotspot and desirable UK holiday location.
Having this in the town centre WILL affect -
* Pubs and clubs
* Bournemouth's reputation
The impact of traveller sites in town/city locations is well known to -
* Reduce property prices
* Increase anti-social behaviour
* Increase crime rates
* Increase littering
The recommended location is next to –
* Children’s playground
* Elderly residents
* All town centre residents
* School run
* Bournemouth’s beautiful gardens (tourism attraction)
This recommendation will be put to Cabinet on 24 June 2009.
***YOU NEED TO SIGN THIS PETITION AGAINST THE LOCATION OF THIS PROPOSED SITE IMMEDIATELY***
We also STRONGLY RECOMMEND you attend the cabinet meeting at 10.30am at Bournemouth Town Hall on Wednesday 24 June to show your support.
