Wollondilly Shire Council's request for a 50 percent rate rise over the next four years has been approved by the Independent Pricing & Regulatory Tribunal (IPAT) to address Council's worsening infrastructure backlog and future road maintenance program.
The increase is proof that Wollondilly Shire Council cannot manage its annual $50 million budget and ratepayers' are hit in the hip pocket. Council has assets of over half a billion dollars and taxing ratepayers an extra 50 percent over the next four years is outrageous.
The 10 percent raterise is an excuse to continuing spending without being made accountable for their excesses. Ratepayers of Wollondilly protest.
We, the undersigned ratepayers of Wollondilly Local Government area, strongly object to the 10.8 percent rate rise amounting to a 50 percent rate rise over the next four years which will then become permanent.
