West End Primary school has been in existence since 1869, (152 years ago). It was one of two schools which provided blacks and non-whites with an education. It was considered to be the Community school for the Sandys parish and was used for many purposes such as fund raisers for crisis situations. It was built, maintained and well supported by the black community throughout the years.
It is in an excellent location where the bus can stop directly outside the school. This would alleviate the bus loads of children from crossing the road.
It has been asserted that the Somerset Primary grounds are almost 1.5 acres larger than West End Primary.
But Google Maps measures Somerset Primary – including Somerset Preschool – as only approximately 0.86 – 0.89 acres larger that West End Primary. Of this, Somerset Preschool measures 0.84 acres. Therefore Somerset Primary is, at most, 0.05 acres larger than West End Primary. What evidence is there that a 21st century education is impossible to build on the marginally smaller West End Primary site?
To do away with this historic name and location The West End Primary School would be a travesty and eventually after many years have passed will be forgotten by most.

We the undersigned firmly believe that the West End Primary School should retain its name and remain at it's present location for the reasons stated above. There have been too many historical buildings that have been demolished and forgotten about. Don't let West End Primary School be another statistic.
