Wells Crossing is a riverside reserve located on the Bukkulla Road approximately 8klms from the town of Ashford.
The reserve is used extensively by both local residents and travellers and provides a beautiful setting for safe swimming, picnics, family gatherings, overnight camping.
Wells Crossing originally had two toilets which were removed several years ago and not replaced. The lack of facilities now forces people to drive 8klms back to town just to use a toilet or alternatively, relieve themselves in the surrounding bushland, which then filters into the local drinking water supply.
Inverell Shire Council currently carries out regular grounds maintenance at the reserve. We would like to see Inverell Shire Council take full control of the reserve and install an environmentally friendly composting toilet to make the reserve more “visitor friendly”.
The addition of these facilities would improve the site for visitors and also act as a huge boost to the mental health of a community in the grip of severe drought and its associated flow on effects.

We the undersigned respectfully request Inverell Shire Council take full control of the Wells Crossing Reserve and install an environmentally friendly composting toilet for use by locals and visitors.
The installation of this facility will boost the town’s mental health in face of severe drought and also protect the environment.
