The Cleveland Coalition Against the Death Penalty has worked diligently for approximately 27 years to reverse capital punishment in Ohio.
We feel execution by any means/in any form only adds to the grief of families, that it does not bring closure, that it is often administered unfairly (racial bias, poverty, etc.), and perpetuates the violence in our society. 128 people have been exonerated; 1 in 8 is usually innocent, & we become the murderers since 'homicide' must be written on the death certificate.
We definitely support the victims families but recommend life in prison over death for the killer, if indeed he is guilty.
We, the undersigned, firmly believe that execution is not the solution.
We ask that the case of Arthur Tyler be reexamined, and if indeed he is guilty, to sentence him to life in prison, not lethal injection.
