We are students at Durand Eastman school doing an exhibition project about Saving the Honey Bees. We be need your help to take action. So far we've learned that Honey Bees are VERY important, and here is why. Bees pollinate plants and crops. Plants and crops produce 1/3 of our food supply and 1/2 of the worlds oils and fibers that create medicines, provide food and cover for wildlife, keep waterways clean, prevent soil erosion, produce the oxygen we breath and absorb CO2, counteracting global climate change. If all bees go extincit, we've only got 4 years to live. Citations: https://www.planetbee.org/why-we-need-bees/

But don't fret! We can help bees in lots of ways! This is how: We can raise our own hive, which is a great hobby and can help keep honeybees healthy while keeping your plants/crops healthy at the same time! You can also plant a pollinator garden which helps honeybees a lot! With a pollinator garden you can be sure bees will have a healthy food source all year round. You can also go organic. Organic means "grown without pesticides". Pesticides are dangerous for bees, so this helps them a whole lot. Some regions in China are even hand-pollinating! You can buy local raw honey which supports bee keepers and their bees. We can urge corporations to stop making and selling neonicotinoids, which is basically nicotine but in a chemical. These are some ways you can help Honey Bees and take action. Honeybees play a big part in the economy. Bee pollination is worth $15 billion to the US farming industries. Beekeepers charged almond growers 51.60 dollars per hive in 2003. By 2009 that rose to $157.03 per hive. By 2016, that fee increased to between $180 to $200 a hive. Over the last six years, the bee industry spent $2 billion to replace 10 million hives. That's for an industry that makes $500 million a year.
