Save The Historic Character of Forest Hill From The City of Newark's Proposed New Zoning

FHCA's mission is to protect and maintain the historic integrity of the Forest Hill Historic District, and we believe that many of the proposed amendments would destroy our historic district and all the historic districts throughout the City of Newark. We also endorse the findings of the South Ward Environmental Alliance that many of the proposals will negatively affect residential neighborhoods throughout our City. We believe that the City's goal of increasing available housing should not be accomplished at the expense of its present residents and taxpayers.
We, the undersigned residents of Newark strongly oppose the amendments of the City of Newark's Zoning Ordinance that would negatively impact the Forest Hill Historic District. Listed on the New Jersey and National Register of Historic Places, the Forest Hill Historic District maintains the status as a significant area worthy of preservation without any zoning changes.
