#City & Town Planning
Target:
Lambeth Planning
Region:
United Kingdom

We, the local community, wish any further developments on Acre Lane (in particular the proposed development of the existing Fulham Timber Yard Site - 176-184 Acre Lane ) to take account of the local environment and the needs of the people who live in the area.

We have already succeeded in stopping Big Yellow Storage building yet more (and unused) storage facilities and seek to stop Genesis from building housing when there is already a surplus of vacant accommodation in Lambeth and a lack of decent facilities/amenities for the existing local community (i.e. shops, green spaces, community spaces, schools).

Plans can be found at http://planning.lambeth.gov.uk/publicaccess/propdb/property/property_detailview.aspx?module=&keyval=003JHPBOLI000&propno=100023354200

We, the undersigned, wish to state our opposition to the proposed development by Genesis Housing Group at 176-184 Acre Lane, SW2.

Our main objections being:

1. The question of security to adjacent properties.
2. The subject of being over-looked by the inhabitants of the proposed units.
3. The disruption and impact on our properties that any building may have - including damage to Victorian walls.
4. The proposal for 60 flats plus some commercial units has resulted in a scheme that is too high at the front and side of the development and is in effect back land development, backing on to people’s rear gardens and private space. The 100+ people that would be in these 60 flats would have a significant and unacceptable impact upon local facilities, infrastructure and amenities.
5. The destruction of the character of Acre Lane, in particular the loss of The Duke of Wellington pub.
6. The lack of social and green space in the area.
7. The additional pressure to already overstretched public and social services such as transport and schools as a result of this population increase.
8. The loss of existing commercial properties on the site resulting in local job losses and a reduction in local amenities/services.
9. The unsympathetic nature of the design which is not only unsightly but is totally out of keeping with other buildings in the immediate area.
10. Currently a surplus of vacant housing in Lambeth.
