Boise High School is the oldest high school in Idaho. Boise High has been referred to as the Braves for over century and it has a long tradition of academic and athletic success. The Braves are a respectful and honoring mascot to the many native peoples who originally inhabited the Boise Valley. We are proud to be Boise Braves. Unfortunately, there are some who wish to try erase the Braves. We aim to stop them.
We, the undersigned, do hereby request that the Board of Trustees of the Boise School District make no changes to the mascot or imagery at Boise High School, which has, since its establishment, been known as the Braves.
We, patrons, alumnus and supporters, view the mascot of the Braves as a one of sincere and purposeful admiration of the native peoples.
If the Board chooses to further consider this issue, we request that the process is done in an open fashion with public outreach and input rather than a hurried and insulated approach, which is the hallmark of the current approach by the Boise High School administration
