Alexander County School Board is voting on Monday April 11, 2016 to close Taylorsville Elementary School down.
This will effect hundreds of children as they will have to be integrated to already overcrowded classrooms in the remaining schools of this district.
This school is one of the oldest operating schools in this county.
This is a concern to me, not only because it is the school I attended, it is also where my child attends as well. She is part of the ESC program at Taylorsville Elementary School.
There are currently only two schools in this district that offer the ESC program. If Taylorsville Elementary School is closed, these special children will have to attend Bethlehem. This will mean more children grouped together, less specialized attention that these children need to progress.
