Founded in 1907 the Poughkeepsie Day Nursery (PDN) is a not-for-profit, Early Care and Education Center, licensed by the New York State of Children and Family Services. It is recognized as one of the oldest early learning care and education centers in the nation.

The PDN offers a customized curriculum catering to the specific needs of children from 2-12 years old. The center also works with local businesses and community organizations to provide workshops, and classes for its enrichment program and summer camp events.

For 107 years now, the PDN has provided quality education in a home like environment where children are encouraged to develop at their own pace. It has served it's parents by consistently providing support, encouragement, and high quality care at affordable prices.

Due to much needed renovations the PDN has been unable to attract new parents which has left the center at a financial disadvantage. For this reason PDN is set to close it's doors May 23, 2014. Therefore, we the undersigned call on Mayor John Tkazyik to keep the Poughkeepsie Day Nursery open by approving building renovations.

We further request the Mayor's assistance in helping the center meet it's financial shortfall to ensure the continued education of the most valuable asset to the community - our children.
