Papadini Lentil Pasta has been a sanity-saving product for parents of children with gluten allergies, a wonderful pasta-alternative for adult celiacs, and a high-protein source for vegans and vegetarians.

As of April 7, 2008, Adrienne's Gourmet Foods, the manufacturer of Papadini Pasta, has announced that they have discontinued the product for "many reasons." A company representative expressed regret at the decision to discontinue the product, but did not feel that there was a "large enough" market for the product."

We at Wellbaskets.com, creator of healthy gift baskets, couldn't disagree more. After many attempts of trying to explain our experience with this market segment, the Adrienne's Gourmet Foods representative seemed unconvinced that the gluten free market was VERY large and, unfortunately, growing rapidly.

Although upset mothers and disappointed customers have individually called our company as well as Adrienne's Gourmet Foods, there is only strength in numbers. If it is important to you to keep this product on the shelves, please take the time to sign the petition.

On May 22, 2008, a spokesperson from Adrienne's Gourmet Foods contacted Well Baskets to clarify the issues regarding production of Papadini Lentil Pasta. According to the spokesperson, Adrienne's is unable to obtain the lentil flour used to make the pasta due to an export ban. Additionally, Adrienne's was only able to find one suitable co-packing facility (in terms of being free of allergens such as corn, wheat, soy, etc), and that this facility was unable to meet product demands on a consistent basis.

We ARE being heard. The president of Adrienne's Gourmet Foods has taken note of our petition. Please CONTINUE to urge Adrienne's to overcome the above-mentioned obstacles. Certainly there must be other countries able to provide lentil flour and other facilities free of allergens that are able to co-package this product.

We, the undersigned, urge Adrienne's Gourmet Foods to continue producing Papadini Lentil Pasta. This product is an important component of the diet for many people with celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, and vegetarians.

Statistics indicate that at least 3 million Americans are living with celiac disease and a staggering 30 million Americans are "gluten sensitive."

These numbers indicate that this group represents a significant market segment that should not be ignored.
