SAVE OUR SHAD

This petition is needed to try and stop a local council closing down our local leisure centre. This centre is the ONLY centre within the Blackburn and Darwen (+ surroundings areas) which has facilities for the WHOLE family i.e.

Shadsworth Leisure Centre is a dual use centre with the following facilities:
· 25 Metre Pool
· 2 Squash Courts
· 2 Aerobic Studios
· Seminar Room
· Regency gym
· Sports Hall

· Vocational Training Unit:
- First Aid Courses
- Lifeguard Courses
- ISRM Courses
- Defibrillator Courses
- Swimming Teacher Courses

· Zoe Taylor Dance Academy
· Free Junior Swim Times
· New Casual Swim Times
· Family Activity Sessions

Other activities available at Shadsworth include:
· swimming lessons
· lengths only sessions
· judo
· karate
· taekwondo
· badminton
· table tennis
· squash
· short tennis
· football
· fitness classes
· sports courses

The council cannot say that this isn’t a popular nor well used facility. I bring my children here EVERY Tuesday for Judo and attend Keep Fit myself then return EVERY Wednesday for my children's swimming lessons!! On both days there is a queue from the Reception area right out through the main doors. This queue is made up of people willing to pay to use the facilities, facilities that aren’t available at the other centres.

The keep fit, dance and Judo sessions are fit to bursting!!!!
