The University of Exeter is planning to approximately halve the number of porters it employs. This would mean that many buildings would no longer have an individual porter assigned to them and that porters would have to be booked in advance.
Porters based in schools will have specific skills and knowledge which a porter brought in for a day could not be expected to have. Therefore the loss of these people would result in less efficient running of buildings and reduced ability to cope with unforeseen circumstances.
We wish to show our appreciation and solidarity for their hard work.
Please sign this petition if;
a) You appreciate the work done by the porters.

b) You think that the university would be making a mistake to reduce the number of porters as they are essential for the smooth running of university life.
