The new Eden Housing plan for affordable housing would seriously degrade the Livermore city center!
Dense housing would fill the open space that was promised. The new plan calls for a 42% larger building footprint and a 32% decrease in park space between buildings, with hardscape on almost half of it.
The 130 Eden Housing units up to 4 stories proposed for the east side of L Street, when added to the 222 housing units rising up to 4 stories now under construction on the west side of L Street, would turn L Street into a canyon.
The promised workforce housing for police, teachers and firefighters is gone, with housing to be built for low-income, very low-income and homeless.
The new plan also fails to meet Livermore parking requirements, and will create additional traffic congestion on L Street.
We, the undersigned, call on Eden Housing and the City Council to save Livermore downtown by presenting a new alternative with a destination park, affordable units that include workforce housing, and no mass of 3 and 4 story buildings in our city center!
