The DNR should not decrease the length of the dock at Sunset Bay Marina (2721 S Lakeview Dr). This will take away scarce slip space access from our residents who have had access there for over 50 years.
I believe we should be creating more opportunities to get people on the lake rather than taking them away. Our local businesses thrive May-September because of people that spend time and money here on our beautiful lake during the summer. Our community is dependent on our lake and the people it serves.
Below are a few things to consider:
1) The demand for slip space on Clear Lake continues to rise as the availability of lake access continues to dwindle.
2) The city dock waitlist is around 300 names long.
3) Having slip space on the lake frees up our few and already congested public boat ramps.
4) People may choose to go to spend their time and money at other lakes.
We, the undersigned, petition that the DNR should NOT decrease the current length of the dock on 2127 S Lakeview Drive (known as Sunset Bay Marina).
