WHEREAS, a small group of people have organized a campaign, known as Forward4All, to de-annex most, if not all, of Anniston's Ward 4 from the City of Anniston, and
WHEREAS, this proposal has been designed to provide speculative profit and advantages to only a few citizens at the cost of destroying the City of Anniston, and
WHEREAS, Anniston's City Council has voted "unanimously" to oppose this action, and
WHEREAS, there are reports that the City of Oxford is not interested in incorporating the proposed de-annexed portion of Anniston, and
WHEREAS, this action would be devastating to the well-being of the citizens of the City of Anniston, and
WHEREAS, the City of Anniston would be deprived of a significant portion of its current tax revenues, and
WHEREAS, this proposal will undoubtedly lead to protracted litigation lasting several years, leaving the City of Anniston in limbo, and
WHEREAS, no legal notice has been given to the citizens of Anniston, raising serious questions as to the constitutionality of this proposal,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the citizens of the City of Anniston signing this petition have submitted their signatures in opposition to the de-annexation proposal that has been put forth by Forward4All.
