150 year old cricket club Manningham Mill in the heart of the Bradford community who has 5 junior cricket teams, a junior and youth cricket academy and along with 2 strong senior teams that play in one of the highest standards of club cricket in the UK are being voted out of the league.

Please support now to save this club as this affects over 150 families and cricketers in the community; and the generations to come. This is the only sports club in the area and within a 10 mile radius.

On Thursday 19th September 2013 the JCT 600 Bradford Cricket League called an extraordinary meeting due to Manningham Mills CC having problems with administration and about the state of surrounds of the ground. The members clubs voted 17-7, with one abstention, at an extraordinary meeting at Pudsey Congs to vote the club out of the league.

It would be Manningham Mills 150th anniversary this year. The cricket team were founder members of the Bradford League in 1903, Manningham Mills were established as a branch of Listers Mill Sports and Social Club in 1865. Between 6,000 and 7,000 employees of the mills made weekly contributions from their wages towards their recreational club which provided them with facilities to take part in cricket.

In the early 1990s the club experienced a series of damaging attacks on its premises, including arson attempts, which nearly brought its demise. Fortunately, the membership rallied round and refurbished the premises enabling the club to continue its activities.

The 2001 Manningham riots were another major setback and club was once again threatened with closure but sheer determination and community spirit pulled her through once again The club unveiled their long-awaited new 1.5 million pound facilities in 2006 and hoped it would herald a bright new dawn for Manningham Mills.

Demographics and reluctance to join meant that it now became an All ASIAN CLUB, however no lesser in talent the kids keep walking through the gates ( like Adil Rashid England international once did) as if cricket was in the blood, In recent years it boasted the best of Asian talent competing in the best amateur league in England reached the Priestley cup final in 2012, at the club there are 4 junior teams including u17s, 15s, 13s, u11s and furthermore 2 senior teams. It currently has 5 junior players in the Yorkshire set up. In total there are over 150 members.

We really do believe the ‘voters’ who we are not sure have ever been to the area and know the impact of the club have made ignorant ill informed decision , and really ripped the heart out of the Asian community!!!
Please share this page and contact the group members if you can help out in any way.

I petition against the Bradford Cricket League and its Member Clubs decision to remove Manningham Mills CC from the JCT600 Bradford Cricket League without giving them the opportunity to address the administration and ground issues they were facing in the 2013 season.
