On April 9 2014 Great Northern Trading Post was advised by Cessnock City Council that live music was no longer permitted effective immediately, as a result of complaints to the Council. It was the day the music died and an incredibly sad turn of events for our entire community.

Live music has been a tradition here in Laguna and an integral part of the Valley for more than thirty years - some of the original residents say longer than that. Our jam nights are legendary and offer established musicians and those just starting out a chance to get up and do their thing. We have been blessed to watch some incredible, internationally renowned artists live on stage all of whom have brought their formidable talent, creativity and wonderful music to our little corner of the world. And they all love playing here too.

Since new owners John & Rose took over the Great Northern Trading Post a year ago, they have enjoyed tremendous support throughout the Valley. Despite the love of the community and beyond for what they have created here, it's over for now.

As a community we are unwilling to say a sad goodbye to the hundreds of musicians that have already graced our gorgeous little stage for the last few decades.... or what was yet to come.

We are asking for a show of your support as we chart our future course. Please help us bring live music back to Great Northern Trading Post.
