Save Johnston Road Buy Low Foods

We, the community, have not been consulted about the proposed elimination of Buy Low Foods from the Hillcrest Plaza area. This store has provided outstanding service to the community for over 35 years and is a pillar of the community, exuding the type of quality service rarely seen in today's "box stores". The owner and staff know most of their customers by name or face, always great people with a smile and happy demeanour, know where all products are located in store and go above and beyond to satisfy customers.
The owner and staff have tried to reach out to the developer and city/municipal staff to negotiate a suitable arrangement, that would benefit the developer and the community, while maintaining a place in the future of the community that it has so lovingly been a part of for over 3 and a half decades.
The elderly community especially depend upon the patients and helpfulness of the staff in maintaining a healthy and active life, whereas with a box store such as Save On Foods, the staff have no time for elder or special needs customers nor do they offer to help these people in need.
The Hillcrest Plaza area has more than enough land to provide for the proposed towers, yet still include the Buy Low Foods, as shown by the inclusion of stores in the lower levels of the complexes across the street from Buy Low Foods.
No attempt has been made to include Buy Low Foods in a future plan, which propose to be all inclusive, yet are not willing to maintain this 35 year old institution which has always been open and inclusive of the ever-changing community.
We seek to have our voices included in the proposed towers, of which we seek to have Buy Low Foods included in the future of the Hillcrest Plaza design.
