The first Guru of Sikhs Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji had visited Nepal 500 years ago. During the visit, the King had granted 1300 Ropanis of land situated near Bishnumati bridge Balaju-16, Kathmandu to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, and still the land remains registered under the name of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Slowly the land was captured by people and presently only 35 Ropanis of land is left.
There is a Gurudwara Sahib at this place and historical hand written Guru Granth Sahib is also present. This Gurudwara is registered with the name "Nanak Matth".
Sikhs used to take care of this historical place and due to some reasons Sikhs left the country and this historical place came under the control of the King himself and later under the Guthi Sansthan, which works under the Government of Nepal.
Again Sikhs entered into Nepal and came to know about this historical place and continued to do their religious ceremonies. Nanak Matth is a Udasi Matth. Udasi is a religious sect of ascetic sadhus centred in northern India. It is based on the teachings of Sri Chand (1494–1643), the son of Guru Nanak, the founder and the first Guru of Sikhism. The Udasis were key interpreters of the Sikh philosophy and the custodians of important Sikh shrines until the Akali movement. They brought a large number of people in the Sikh fold during the 18th and the early 19th centuries. However, their religious practices border on a syncretism of Sikhism and Hinduism. When the Singh Sabha, dominated by Khalsa Sikhs, redefined the Sikh identity in the early 20th century, the Udasi mahants were expelled from the Sikh shrines.Since then, the Udasis have increasingly regarded themselves as Hindus rather than Sikhs.
Presently the mahant of Nanak Matth is Nem Muni Udasi who has been appointed by the Guthi Sansthan. All the donations made by the donors is strictly under the Mahant.
The local Sikhs of Kathmandu gather every time possible to perform religious ceremonies and serve Langar(Free Kitchen) at Nanak Matth and also to celebrate various important Sikh festivals as well. Everything was going well when suddenly Krishna Das started to capture Nanak Matth. It was during the time of disturbance in Terai due to which the people living in the hills were suffering because of the blockade and for which India was blamed.
After we inquired about Krishna Das Ji and the way he was capturing the Gurudwara from the mahant Nem Muni Udasi, we were assured that he was here for some temporary period only of which we have a recording as a proof as well. It didn't stop here, one Saturday while preparing our Langar we were stopped by his goons and our raw material was thrown away and then Krishna Das himself ordered to push these Indians out of here as this is our Land, our country and this place belongs to us.
This incident was reported to the emergency service of the Embassy of India as well and later this case was taken to the CDO office Kathmandu and the Guthi Sansthaan where they did not bother to solve the issue.
Krishna Das had lured Nem Muni Udasi, and he even has turned totally against Sikhs. Krishna das belongs to Vaishnav community which has got no relations with the Udasis and Sikhs.
Anyhow Sangat continued to prepare langar by the help of Police Protection.
Now there has been no Sikh religious ceremonies of any kind, no Langar, no Kirtan.
The Embassy of India also turned their back on this matter.
Krishna Das has constructed a medical store and has been selling medicines on the premises of Nanak Matth. He has also started to sell his literatures and books as well. He has started to abolish the preaching of Guru Granth Sahib and has been presenting himself as a living God which is strictly against Sikh principles.
We the undersigned, call on the Sikhs all over the globe, the Nepalese Government, and the Government of India to completely giver the Gurudwara Premises under the control of the local Sikh Sangat and avail all the requirements for the Sikh Sangat to continue their preaching smoothly.
