As a result of the WA State Government's decision to place a 60,000 - 70,000 seat sports stadium on the back nine of the existing Burswood Park Golf course, a decision has to be made about what to do with the remaining front nine of the golf course.
The government is proposing to close the whole golf course, as they believe a nine hole course is not viable.
Given that this public golf course has been an icon of the city landscape for the past 20 years, and that with minimal change and cost this could continue, the action to close the entire golf course would not be in the best interest of the City, it's citizens, visiting tourists or anyone that cares about presserving what is arguably one of the state's premier golf course's.
We, the undersigned, ask the State Government to put aside the idea of shutting down the Burswood Park Golf Course in entirety, instead continuing to use the area of the existing front nine, as a golf course.
