Almost 70% of the embankments of the state of Assam are more than 50 years old. Some rivers are to be dredged. All these embankments need renovation. That apart utilisation of new techniques such as Geo cell stop protection system, fibromat etc are essential. So, we the people of Assam feel that unless and until the central government take special initiatives, the afore-mentioned works cannot be accomplished.
