NSW Anaesthesia Technicians are being discriminated against by NSW health in that only in NSW are they not listed as being permitted to have access to S4&S8 medications. NSW Anaesthesia Technicians were listed in the NSW drug administration guidelines, however for some unknown reason any reference to them has been removed. This has resulted in them being unable to fully carry out their role in the perioperative environment, due to the ambiguous wording in the current NSW drug administration guidelines. Help us rectify this injustice and give this well trained group of health care proffessionals , the same rights as their counterparts in other States of Australia.
We the undersigned members of the public and the profession of Anaesthesia Technicians ,call on the Chief Pharmacist of NSW to review the current medication guidelines to ensure they match those standards and guidelines as set down by other Health Departments throughout Australia, pertaining to Anaesthesia Technicians being authorised to have access to S8&S4 medications.
