Target:
Ken Blanchett VP St. Clair College
Region:
Canada

We have until December 11, 2017 to register for our CNO exam (this means mailed out and paid for prior to this date). We have to complete the Jurisprudence examination prior to the CNO exam. In order to complete the Jurisprudence and CNO exams, all schooling must be completed. The CNO exam window is from January 29-February 18, 2018.
With what the college is proposing (us having to complete our remaining hours), it may mean that we are not able to take the CNO exam in January/February of next year, as we will not be able to hit all of the necessary deadlines. We would be pushed out to the June 2018 examination time.
Please consider:
1. The CNO does not dictate a mandatory number of clinical hours in order to complete the program.
2. In various Ontario colleges, the RPN consolidation/pre-grad is only 8 weeks long
3. In 20XX, an outbreak caused clinical to be cancelled for St. Clair College RPN students. The graduating class from that year only had to complete 6/10 weeks of their consolidation. The time missed was not made up.

The college has indicated they wouldn’t want to take away from our learning. We appreciate that, and we didn't really want to miss out on the experience, however at this point, we are ready to move on and start preparing for the exam.
Many people have invested in prep courses expecting to be able to take the CPRNE exam in the new year. Those prep courses are starting now; this could result in a waste of time and money for many if we are not able to take the exams in Jan/Feb as planned.

We the undersigned request St. Clair College administration to consider the completion of 7 weeks of the RPN consolidation be deemed as sufficient for graduation from the program.
