Between the years 2007 and 2016, there had been 1,412 buggy accidents in Ohio. Over 500 of those accidents occurred in Holmes and Wayne County together. I have researched ways to help reduce these numbers. I considered safety instruments such as LED lights and a slow-moving vehicle emblem. However, there are a group of Low Old Order Amish, such as the Swartzentruber Amish, whom find it against their Ordnung to be in possession of anything flashy. The Ordnung is a set of rules set by each church in the Amish culture. The members of that church must follow every strict rule that the Ordnung contains or they will be shunned or possibly kicked out. With this obstacle in the way, I had to search for something that would work just as well or even better. I then found a survey held by the Ohio Department of Transportation. One option, that I found best, was to create a buggy pull-off lane. With a buggy pull-off lane, drivers will be able to go over the hills on county and township roads without having to worry about there being a buggy on the other side. This lane is also not an expensive process. It will also be efficient and not create a stacked up line behind a buggy when driving on a hill.

I am counting on members of Holmes County as well as Wayne County to simply support the safety of our roads.
