The Rohingya people of Burma are being subjected to systematic ethnic cleansing tantamount to genocide. Their homes are being burnt, children murdered and bodies mutilated. Those that survive are being forced to take to the sea on make shift boats or to attempt a dangerous land crossing to neighbouring Bangladesh where they face an uncertain future.

The perpetrators of this violence are murderous vigilante groups encouraged by the Burmese government and aided and abetted by the Burmese Army.

The de facto leader of Burma - Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi - has not only refused to condemn the violence but fails even to acknowledge that it is taking place.

She has the power to stop the carnage but chooses not to do so for fear of alienating her political power base.

We, the peace loving people of the world, hereby petition the Norwegian Nobel Committee to revoke the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Ms. Aung Sang Suu Kyi.

Her failure to condemn and prevent ethnic cleansing and genocide in her country demonstrates that she is an unworthy recipient of this high honour.

Revoking her Nobel Peace Prize will send a clear message to her that condoning and enabling mass murder is unacceptable.
