Thank you to everyone who signed and supported this petition. Here are the results:
a) Those who have taken this course will have it credited.
b) Starting Winter session 2009 the MGP8002A will no longer be credited and will be a pre requisite to be accepted into the Master program in Project Management at UQO. The Director explained to us that from now on this software will be widely use in the Project Planning and control course. Which makes sense.
Spread the word!
Thank you again.
This course was always listed as an elective 1 credit course in the program. The University has changed it to a refresher course without noticing the students that are currently registered or have taken this course in the past. Currently this course is not counted towards the completion of the program and many students are not aware of this.
From UQO's website the objective of the course is as follows: "This course has as its principal objective to develop the skills to use a project management software application and to understand its possibilities as a tool in project management." From my point a view such a tool can not be taught and applied effectively if you do not know the core basics of project management. This course is of importance should be maintained as an elective in the program.
This petition will be mailed to UQO by December 8,2008. If you support our efforts, please add your signature and comments as they will be very useful to validate your support.
Thank you.
We, the undersigned, call on UQO to:
a) Recognize the MGP8002A-Project Management Software course as a one (1) credit towards the completion of the masters in project management for the students who have taken or are currently taking it.
b) To keep the MGP8002A Project Management Software course as 1 credit elective course in the Master program in Project Management due to its importance.
