The city of Stratford enforced a by-law by removing sandwich signs in front of businesses. And in some cases this was done without the knowledge of the business.
It was labeled a clean up. Some businesses have had these signs for at least 6 years and they were hugely effective in promoting business in an effective and inexpensive way.
Stratford boasts of being a smart community and of it's advancement in communication and integration of information. However Stratford holds on to a bylaw that forbids local businesses from this basic mode of communication.
Communities thrive and survive by giving all businesses equal opportunity to do well. Taking these signs away has impacted advertising gravely, eg. location, when open, specials like walk in's welcome, phone no., name of business, a promotions, etc.
And last but not least these signs are not intrusive to the character of the neighbourhood.
We the undersigned want to legalize business sandwich board signs outside the city core of Stratford.
