The criminal charges filed on December 9, 2008 against Governor Rod Blagojevich have become a complete distraction to the Illinois government.
Following the governor's public statement on December 19, 2008 the governor's lawyer, Sam Adam Jr., stated, "He (the governor) told me if it doesn't work, if it is too hard, if the people of Illinois suffer, he (the governor) will resign." The people of Illinois are already suffering because of this situation and will continue to suffer finacially and politically as long as Governor Blagojevich remains in office.
The state of Illinois is in a financial crisis and we the citizens of Illinois cannot afford the cost of impeachment hearings/trials and special elections!
We, the undersigned citizens of Illinois, request the immediate resignation of Governor Rod Blagojevich.
