Target:
Bement Community School Board
Region:
United States of America

Bement Community School District and Verizon have proposed a mono pole 175-200 ft cell tower with a 7' fence around the base to be built at the East end of Coles Pasture. The school district wants the $1,000 monthly rent that Verizon will be paying for the land use. Other items to consider are:

* Health Hazards to Children - Telecommunications Act of 1996 may prohibit challenges of “undesirable health effects,” but other countries and various communities in the United States have banned or are banning cell towers near schools because of the hazards they pose to children. “Children are at the greatest risk, due to their thinner skulls, and rapid rate of growth”.
* Intrusion into residential areas - East Bodman Street is one of the main thoroughfares through Bement and is in the heart of the neighborhood and near many homes.
* Diminished Property Values & Aesthetics
* Environmental Threat to Wildlife such as bees, butterflies, birds, and plants.

We proudly join the growing coalition of citizens across the country who are standing up to the intrusion of cell phone towers into residential areas.

We urge you to support the residents of Bement and prevent the placement of a cell phone tower in Coles Pasture.

Sincerely,

The concerned parents, residents, homeowners, and others who have voluntarily signed this petition.
