Dashea Green’s Second Chance

This petition is being written on behalf of Dashea S. Green, a man who is now 47 years old who has been incarcerated for the past 3-decades for a crime he committed as a 17-year old boy. Dashea was convicted of 2nd degree murder, robbery armed, assault w/ intent to commit murder, and felony fire arm. Although Dashea was convicted of these crimes, he never killed anyone. However, he did shoot a teen, but the teen did not die. Dashea realizes the pain and hardship he has caused in many lives. The victims and his family. In the blink of an eye many lives were changed for the worse. It was not Dashea’s intention to suddenly harm a human life. Words cannot express the depth of grief Dashea has because of his past actions, over the continuing years of his incarceration, he has not forgotten and he’s terribly remorseful for the bad moments he’s left his victim’s family with mentally. Because he was with a man who killed someone, Dashea was charged, and convicted as well. Today, 30yrs later, along with many citizens from Detroit, and Dashea's family, we believe that Dashea deserves a chance to be free in society, as a productive citizen. Dashea has served, basically, his entire life incarcerated. Thirty (30) years is a life time, and he should be given mercy, and afforded an opportunity to be a productive adult in our society. Along with myself, and many members from our community, we humbly submit this petition to mercifully ask for the parole, and freedom of Dashea S. Green.
