Several months ago, Redford Township, MI lost their Animal Control Officer. Since then, there has not been a dedicated person to take calls, or research and resolve issues involving animals wandering the streets, animals who have been injured or neglected animals in the township.
Calls directed to DPS or the non-emergency police number do not get answered in a timely manner putting, not only the animals, but residents of the township at risk. It has been determined by the Chief of Police and the head of DPS that this position is not necessary.
We would like you to rethink your position on this and hire a new ACO immediately.
The lack of a person in this position puts our township at considerable risk.
We, the undersigned, request the immediate hiring of a new Animal Control Officer for the Township of Redford.
