Hannibal is an American thriller television series developed by Bryan Fuller for NBC. The series is based on characters and elements appearing in the novel Red Dragon by Thomas Harris and focuses on the budding relationship between FBI special investigator Will Graham and Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a forensic psychiatrist destined to become Graham's most cunning enemy.

NBC's Hannibal has received critical acclaim, if poor ratings, during its run. The poor ratings are mainly attributed to the show airing on NBCs infamous Thursday night death slot, which has resulted in poor ratings for a number of other shows, in turn resulting in their cancellations.

The difference between Hannibal, and these other shows, is that Hannibal premiered to decent numbers (a 1.6) and showed sign of growth in its subsequent week (a 1.7). However, the ratings would later fall as all TV shows do (to a 1.4), and further fell due to competition with the NFL draft (to a 1.0). This, combined with the fact that the showed had episodes pulled (Which matters due to the serialized nature of the show, as it causes audience confusion.), has led to the shows most recent ratings to be at a 1.1.

We believe, through word of mouth, DVD sales, a better time-slot, and a constantly increasing positive reception, that a second season of Hannibal is a worthy investment for those at NBC. It may not be a hit now, but it has the potential to be. The increasing 1st to 2nd week ratings and solid DVR numbers are evidence that audiences are liking what they see, and that it, unlike shows such as Revolution and Go On, can actually grow.

We only ask that the network gives the show the chance it deserves. A weak premiere rating should not be the end of a show that has earned such critical goodwill and has proven some worth when it comes to its future potential.

We, the undersigned, demand that NBC renew Hannibal for a second season.
