Our family has recently experienced first hand how the law can effect you as an individual. Having been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
We believe that if there was no minimum sentence on a federal law of five years, that is should be based on the individual and the circumstances that the case presents, as innocent people will be sent to prison for a harsh sentence for a minor crime that was out of their hands.
We the undersigned, call on the federal government to eliminate the minimum sentence in a internet child pornography case. As some sites have the information and you are unable to prevent them from downloading, or being aware of the fact that they have been downloaded to your computer.
Innocent people should not be going to jail for five years just because this is the minimum charge.
