Ever since I became a k-pop fan in 2012, I have been a witness of the dehumanizing treatment given to idols by their companies, the public, and even their own fans.

These idols are basically not allowed to be human: work 24/7 without eating, sleeping, or breaks; mainting a perfect look even if it means endangering their health; no dating or doing anything other than working and fulfilling their "fans'" fantasies.

They are allowed to be hated on and to be controlled by the public because "that's their job".

Well, recently, Kim Jonghyun, an accomplished k-pop idol, committed suicide. He had depression, and he is not the first idol to have depression. These idols saw themselves being dehumanized by a merciless public, and that has taken a toll on them.

This needs to stop; things need to change. We want companies to treat their artists right and fairly, letting them LIVE. Their greed is destroying their idols... they are also responsible for creating a stressful environment for idols in which living is considered "bad behavior".

K-pop idols deserve respect from their companies, the public, and their fans. They are not toys, they are not imaginary boyfriends/girlfriends, they are not cash cows.

They are HUMANS who deserve:
-Humane working hours
-Breaks
-The right to date and express themselves freely
-Focus on their nutrition and health before anything else
-RESPECT
-Care of their mental health

Sign this petition if you do not support stressful, dehumanized environments for idols. This petition is to raise awareness and will be sent to companies so that they know that we will no longer support their exploitation.

ALLOW IDOLS TO LIVE.
