Cherokee County Georgia

United States of America

Since the legalization of fireworks in Georgia, residents have lost the right to peace and quiet in their homes. Indiscriminate use of fireworks disturbs the peace, stresses pets and litters private and public property.

We call on the Cherokee County Commission to enact reasonable regulation of fireworks to restore peace in our neighborhoods.

Such regulation should include:

Limit the legal use of fireworks to one or more seasons such as July 1-31 or December 30-January 2.

Prohibit the discharge of fireworks in residential areas Monday through Thursday except July 4 and December 31.

Prohibit the discharge of fireworks in residential areas every day between 10pm and 8am. Discharge of fireworks could be allowed until midnight on July 4 and December 31.

Prohibit the discharge of fireworks within 300 feet of an adjoining residence.

Prohibit firing of aerial fireworks over private property without the express permission of the property owner.

We, the undersigned residents of Cherokee County, call for the county commission to enact regulations on the use of fireworks by restricting the discharge of fireworks in residential areas and to restore our rights to peaceably enjoy our homes. These regulations should include:

Prohibit the discharge of fireworks in residential areas Monday through Thursday except July 4 and December 31.

Prohibit the discharge of fireworks in residential areas every day between 10pm and 8am. Discharge of fireworks could be allowed until midnight on July 4 and December 31.

Prohibit the discharge of fireworks within 300 feet of an adjoining residence.

Prohibit firing of aerial fireworks over private property without the express permission of the property owner.
