It is the experience of the residents of Highland Oaks Subdivision that the current speed limit of 25mph is far too high and, in fact, encourages motorists to speed through our neighborhood at rates of 30-35mph, routinely.
These rapid speeds are a real danger to the children who reside in our subdivision, while they are out and playing in front of their homes.
It is our opinion that the legal speed limit should be reduced to a maximum of 15mph in order to help safeguard our children and others.

We, the homeowners of Highland Oaks Subdivision in St. Tammany Parish, petition the city to reduce the speed limit in our subdivision from 25 to at least 15 mph.
Drivers typically speed through the populated subdivision including children of all ages who are trying to play as well as catch the bus for school.
This reduction in the speed limit to 15 mph will provide the safety for our children and citizens who occupy residency in this subdivision.
