In 2011 My 11 year-old son was raped by a 17 year-old guy. He lured my son into a vacant unit in my complex that was left opened. He then took him in the basement and forced my son to pull down his pants while he preformed anal sex on him. This boy that committed this crime on my son has stolen everything from my son and the system has failed me.
They have given him little to no jail time. My son has to live with this for the rest of his life and it haunts him everyday. My son is not the boy I once knew any more. I do not believe putting restrictions on him to not attend an address and slapping him on the wrist for what he has done is justifiable at all!.
THE ISSUE
We are showing people that in Canada and the rest of the world that sexual crimes against Children are not a huge concern in today's society. Children do not have a voice that can be heard, so I and everyone that signs this petition will be that voice that will be heard. There is a high percentage rate of criminals convicted of a violent crime(s) against a child for reoffending, and/or for getting out of prison when only serving a fraction of the sentence imposed upon them. Crimes against children have increased in the past decade. Sexual crimes against children should be punishable by the maximum sentence allowed for each crime committed; regardless of age, ethnicity, background, education, and criminal history or mental conditions.
We, the undersigned, call on the Justice System of Canada and the Premier of Ontario, Dalton McGuinty to introduce and improve laws that will require better protection of children and our communities from child sex offenders.
