The United Nations needs to prevent countries from breaking the Geneva Protocol. The Geneva Protocol is a prohibition in war of the use of asphyxiating, poisonous or other gases, and of bacteriological methods of warfare.

Many countries have broken this protocol including Albania, China, Cuba, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Libya, North Korea, Pakistan, Russia, South Korea, Sudan, Syria, Taiwan, and United States.

An example of using chemical warfare is when the U.S. used Agent Orange the Vietnamese War which was supposed to kill the canopy of the forests so ground troop were in the open, but the chemical had unforeseen effects on humans including; birth defects or death. Armies need to stop using chemical and biological warfare.

The United Nations should impose economic sanctions on countries that break the Geneva Protocol.
