The Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of the Environment, and Minister for Arctic Council

Before the Europeans came to Canada, wolves lived in harmony with the environment. But, when the settlers arrived, wolves were poisoned, trapped, and hunted.

Wolves that weren't attacked, were left homeless when their forest home was developed. With the largest wolf population in the world, Canada has allot to up-hold. People come here for the wilderness, and, with the wolf as the primary symbol, no one will come, and, as well as having less income, the country could be responsible for a huge decline in the population of the wolf.

Canada should also be ashamed that with the Rocky Mountains being the best possible habitat in Canada for a wolf, there was not one spotted in that area over a 30 year time period.

A declining species. That is what the Canadian wolves are. Not only is their lack in numbers a threat to essential ecology of the world, but it also means an enormous decline in tourism for Canada.

Without the large amount of money that tourism brings in, Canada will almost definitely fail to meet the their economical needs. Wolves are a big part of tourism for Canada. With less than 50 000 spread through the vast landscape of Canada, we are quickly loosing these wonderful animals.

For an entire handful of wolf species that live solely in Canada, and others that live elsewhere, that population is near to nothing. And with all the hunting, poisoning, trapping, and killing in general, wolves are doomed to die without help.

We, the undersigned call upon the Canadian Minister of Environment to protect Canadian wolves by Federal Law.

The law will protect wolves and let them thrive and live happily.
