Short Term Rentals (STR) and their guest spending are an important part of the tourism sector in the greater Los Angeles area. Short Term Rentals, also known as vacation rentals, accounted for 1.4 billion in total economic activity in 2013. An estimated $211.7 million dollars in direct aggregate spending was made by STR guests in 2013 in Los Angeles County. For every $100 a traveler spent on lodging, they also infused the local economy by spending nearly as much as 50% - 75% on food and dining out, local ground transportation, recreation, and retail shopping.

Families are making memories together they can cherish, and while they are, our local communities are prospering through the increases in economic spending. This is important in all our neighborhoods. Tourism supports one out of every ten jobs in the Los Angeles area.

The Los Angeles Short Term Rental Alliance is committed to being proactive in educating its members on being good neighbors through responsible management practices. Our membership is committed to educating guests, being responsible and honoring the vibrant and unique nature of the local communities that make up Los Angeles.

Protect your fundamental freedom to the use of your home and property without having to endure unnecessary over-regulation or invasions of your privacy. Please sign this petition in support of Short Term Rentals and the protection of our basic liberties today!

Short Term Rentals have been an integral part of our community for decades. Short Term Rentals can generate upwards of $275,400 per year in transient occupancy tax revenue for Redondo Beach that can go towards continuing improvements for the City. In addition, Short Term Rentals create significant economic gains for local employment and local business opportunities, which generates much needed revenues for our local communities.

By signing this petition I declare that I am opposed to an outright ban on Short Term Rentals, and I urge the City of Redondo Beach to do what is right by implementing a fair and equitable ordinance that will allow homeowners and residents the freedom to utilize their property, whether they share their home while occupying it or rent out their primary or secondary properties, and that also insists on responsible management practices, increased accountability, and open lines of communication for the neighboring members of the community.
