The 22nd amendment to the United States Constitution imposes term limits on the President of the United States.
We believe that this is an essential check on the power of the Executive Branch, and therefore vital to maintaining balance in our government.
Recently, the amendment has been under increased attack. Rep. Jose Serrano (D-N.Y.) proposed an amendment to abolish it, and writers like Prof. Jonathan Zimmerman have written editorials in major newspapers calling for an end to presidential term limits.
We, the undersigned, call on the United States Congress to take no action which seeks to weaken or abolish presidential term limits, as enshrined in the 22nd amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
