#Human Rights
Target:
Home Secretary, UKBA
Region:
United Kingdom

Mr Saidi, originally from Congo, has been in the Uk for more than 10 years and has been kept in prison under immigration laws by the UK Border Agency for more than a year. He should have been released on 23/07/2010.

It has been recognized that Mr Saidi can't go back to his country of origin but the UKBA is trying to deport him in Rwanda despite the fact that he doesn't fulfil any of the requirements of the Rwandan High Commission to be granted Rwandan Citizenship and therefore travel documents to Rwanda.

Mr Saidi doesn't know how long this indefinite detention is going to go on for and fears it could be for a long time as it has been seen before in other cases in the UK.

It has been ruled by a series of judgment by the High Court that detention for years with no prospect of deportation is unlawful.

Indefinite detention is inhuman and the distress endured has been proved to damage mental health of detainees.

With the support of the group I am part of (www.lpvg.co.uk), I am asking for:

-the immediate release of Mr Saidi from detention;

-the revocation of his deportation order to Rwanda;

-the reconsideration of his indefinite leave to remain in the Uk;

-the end of wasting tax payers' money and people's time;

-a more pragmatic and human approach to immigration control that doesn't ignore the rights of people living in the Uk who are not British Citizens.
