Since respect and human dignity was denied to King Richard III in 1485 when he died on the field of battle,
performing Shakespeare's play, "Richard III" at Leicester Cathedral (where his remains now lie) is humiliating, disrespectful and insulting to the Last Plantagenet Monarch.

We, the Richard III Society, urgently calls for the performances of "Richard III" in Leicester Cathedral to be relocated to an alternate venue, and also request that no future performances of any play or film that might be considered derisive or humiliating to the memory of the King be contemplated where, it is important to remember, where the man himself now lies.
