Based on all the evidence available about the damage that poker machines cause, this petition is hopefully be presented to the Tas. Government with the aim of causing them to do something about this problem.
I have chosen not to aim for a national level abolition because my faith does not extend that far.
If Tasmania leads the way then my sincere hope has always been that others would follow.
We, the undersigned, petition the Tasmanian Government to aim to bring in legislation to abolish poker machines in Tasmania and in the meantime to introduce legislation to bring in harm minimisation measures.
The focus of this petition is the many individuals adversely affected by these machines who don't even play them, i.e the loved ones and children of the addicted player.
