Like you, I am really keen to see a farmers market in the Balmoral/Bulimba area. I love this place and I love this community. I am passionate about good quality food and about bringing our farmers direct to you.
Although the Brisbane City Council have initially given approval for a farmers market at the Balmoral State High School, they have placed a condition that we need to seal the driveway and some car park areas with bitumen. Unfortunately, neither the school nor EarthnSun have the resources to do that.
We do appreciate the concerns of dust and mud impacts raised by council and we have been keen to find alternative solutions. Our aim is to be as eco-sustainable as possible and we have found a fantastic eco-solution using recycled asphalt.
We will be presenting our case to council within the next week and we are hoping on generating some community support for these markets.
Although, I have put up my hand to champion this cause, this is really about community. This is YOUR community market and this is your chance right NOW to make this happen.
