I truly cannot understand the reason of deporting Hamlet Baghdasaryan, a loving husband, a caring father, a diligent worker, an honest and law-abiding member of our society. He has not in any way been a threat to our National Security.

He has never committed any crimes throughout his life. He has made significant contributions to our family, to the Armenian Community and to our society. He is a great role model to young Armenians.

Ever since Hamlet has stepped into this beautiful country of opportunities, he has been a productive member of our society. Regardless of his higher education, my uncle made an honest living out of whatever life brought to him, not what he was taught and trained to do. He did construction and remodeling. He had stable jobs to support his family, and paid his taxes every year. His hard work paid off, when he bought a house with his hard earned money. He has been an asset for companies and people that he has worked with.

As soon as Hamlet entered this country he asked the U.S. government to become a permanent resident. He received a Social Security number and Work Permit. His case was rejected. He then turned to lawyers. He did everything in his power to stay legal in this country. He spent his whole fortune on lawyers to keep himself legal in this country. Hamlet had absolutely no knowledge that he had become illegal. On the morning of January 19 he was detained by two immigration officers and has been kept in custody until now.

His kids have been brought up in the American ways. These kids go to the Fulton County public schools. Every morning they pledge to the flag of the United States that stands for liberty and justice for all. These kids believe in justice for all in the United States and they believe that their father will be released from jail. They believe that they will have the chance to stay in the United States.

We, the undersigned, hereby petition the Board of Immigration Appeals, Department of Homeland Security and the Headquarters Post-Order Detention Unit ICE regarding the case of Hamlet Baghdasaryan, who has been in Immigration detention for over 6 months.

We respectfully request the Board of Immigration Appeals, Department of Homeland Security and Headquarters Post-Order Detention Unit ICE to release Hamlet Baghdasaryan from detention and grant him residence in the United States.
