We all know the story. You wake up, feeling fresh and ready to start a good day. Then when you arrive at the MRT station, long queues form, signage are up, you quickly turn to your Twitter, your friends reported the fault again third time this week, you know what has happened.

The recent spate of train breakdowns with all sorts of possible reasons recorded in the PA system used has get to a sickening stage. It's no longer a case of, "oh okay, it's just this once".

Yes, we were told to give them time, give them chance as they are doing tests, be patient. Yet, the ones telling us these are the ones who do not take the trains at all, except when maybe some photography session is needed.

Khaw Boon Wan, for the past 1.5 months, have yet to even come out once to apologise or address the breakdown issues. On his Facebook, we see him happily planting trees, changing Facebook profile photo, having meals and celebrating milestones of one MRT line not breaking down while another two lines are probably having another breakdown. He is doing everything except his basic duties of a Transport Minister.

Desmond Kuek, ex-CDF, SMRT's President and CEO does not even bother appearing to comment on the situation. Erm, where's the leadership skills from his CDF experiences? Is he really the best man to helm this role where it requires good knowledge of at least how a train system works?

If you realised, these two men has been playing the silent game, including the government who has simply ignore each breakdown, leaving us citizens totally helpless about the situation. We cannot accept this ignorant and arrogant attitude anymore!

Each time the train breakdown, we are stuck and wasting lots of precious time which the two men probably doesn't realise. The ferry buses are very minute solutions to a temporary extent. In a bigger picture, the trains are still not fixed and we have no idea how long more we are going to suffer. LTA can fine SMRT but the money doesn't go back to us daily commuters.

We petition for SMRT to give free-train-rides-day the next day after each breakdown, as a form of compensation for commuters. This is only reasonable as we commuters are the ones truly suffering from train breakdowns. If LTA's service vision of "People Centered Land Transport System" is being honoured, then LTA should be asking SMRT to do so as well.

Let's gather all commuters to put your names to this petition for SMRT, Khaw Boon Wan and LTA to address this issue which has not been improving since the transport minister takes his seat.

This might seems to be another petition but if there are enough supporters for such calls, it will be a petition with impact in time to come.

*Lastly, let's be kind to our on-ground staffs who are working very hard, the engineers, the CSOs, they are the one taking normal salary, work doubly hard day and night. When things goes right, the men at the top takes the credit but when things go wrong, they should not be the ones to take blame. So give them a smile as you see them. Thank you.*

We petition for SMRT to give free-train-rides-day the next day after each breakdown, as a form of compensation for commuters.
