Petition to Oppose the Allowance of Residential Units as Group Homes and/or Assisted Living Facilities in Olney Mill

In the past few weeks, we have learned of a plan to convert a neighborhood home into an assisted care facility, something explicitly forbidden by the covenants, conditions, and restrictions of the Olney Mill bylaws. In response to this, the OMCA has delivered a Stop-Work Order to the homeowners and informed them that such construction and conversion will not be tolerated by the board and the residents of Olney Mill.

Our bylaws prohibit any home in Olney Mill to be used as anything other than a single-family residence. They also prohibit any construction that would become a "nuisance or annoyance" to the neighbors and residents of the community. Additionally, our bylaws prohibit any homes from being transformed in a manner that uses the building itself in a for-profit manner. On these grounds, the OMCA Board is informing all residents of the neighborhood that we are actively enforcing our bylaws in order to maintain the standard of living in Olney Mill.

As residents of Olney Mill, you have the power to have your voice heard in this or any other matter pertaining the affairs of the community.
